Ian Macleod & Company was established in the year 1933, by Leonard J Russell Snr, our company's founder in Scotland, United Kingdom. He was a firm believer in the value of independence. Beholden to no single distiller, he bought only those whiskies which met his own and his customers' exacting standards. Both clearly had good taste, because more than 86 years down the line, Ian Macleod Distillers has built up an enviable portfolio of premium quality spirits and is proud brand proprietor of Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Rosebank, Isle of Skye, Smokehead Scotch whiskies and Edinburgh Gin to name but a few. The world’s 10th largest Scotch Whisky Company, we currently produce and sell over 15 million bottles of spirits every year.
Ours is an industry increasingly dominated by a few multi-national companies with global brands and equally far-stretched corporate mission statements. We’re just not like that. For the last 86 years and more, Ian Macleod Distillers has always favoured quality over quantity and long-term value over short-term gains.
Ian Macleod Distillers have been present in India since 1997 by exporting bulk Blended Scotch Whisky and Blended Malt Whisky to Indian liquor companies for use in local production of bottled in India Blended Scotch Whisky and Indian whisky blended with Scotch Malts.
In 2004, the Company started exporting bottled liquors to the Travel Retail segment of the Indian market (Airport Duty Free Shops) and since then there has been no looking back and continued its business in India.
"We have a distinguished history behind us and an exciting future ahead."
